Cleome angustifolia
Cleome angustifolia, known as golden cleome, yellow cleome, or yellow mouse whiskers, is an African plant in the Cleomaceae family. It commonly grows along roadsides and in disturbed areas and is eaten as a vegetable locally. Swedish naturalist Peter Forsskål described it in 1775. It is one of three Cleome species (the others are C. gynandra and C. oxalidea) that independently evolved the C4 pathway of photosynthesis. A close relative, Cleome paradoxa, is a C3–C4 intermediate.
