Botines, Texas
Botines is a small census-designated place in Webb County, Texas, about 5 miles north of Laredo. It covers 1.9 square miles, all land, and had 149 residents in 2020. The name comes from the Spanish word botín, meaning boot or boot cover, and the area is considered one of the county’s colonias.
The CDP used to be larger (8.6 square miles in 2000) but boundary changes before 2010 reduced it to its current size.
In 2010, Botines had 117 people living in 40 households. The population was mainly White and Hispanic/Latino. Household sizes averaged about 3.3 people, and the median age was around 30.
Economically, the median household income was about $24,600, with a median family income around $48,500. Per capita income was about $11,994, and some residents lived in poverty.
Education is provided by the United Independent School District, with San Isidro Elementary, Elias Herrera Middle, and United High as the zoned schools. The designated community college for the area is Laredo Community College. The ZIP code is 78045, and Botines is in the Central Time Zone.
