Claes Cronqvist
Claes Cronqvist, born 15 October 1944 in Landskrona, Sweden, is a former footballer who played as a striker. He started his career with Landskrona BoIS in 1962, then moved to Djurgårdens IF in 1966 and stayed until 1970, making 104 appearances and scoring 30 goals. In 1966 he helped Djurgårdens IF win the Swedish league title in his first season with them. He returned to Landskrona BoIS in 1971, where he won the Swedish Cup in 1972 and earned bronze medals in 1975 and 1976. Cronqvist is known for receiving seven red cards in Allsvenskan, a record at the time, later matched by Mats Rubarth. Internationally, he earned 16 caps for Sweden between 1970 and 1974 and was part of the World Cup squads in 1970 and 1974.
As a coach, he led IFK Hässleholm in 1981 and Landskrona BoIS from 1983 to 1985. In 1983 the team nearly qualified for Allsvenskan; the next season was tougher, with relegation to the third tier. They fought back and won a promotion playoff in 1985 to return to the second tier in 1986. Cronqvist left management at a high level after 1985 and later worked as a trainer in lower divisions. In 2015 he was honored with a stone on the Landskrona Walk of Fame.
