2021 in Greece

2021 was a year of health, weather, and social events. The country continued its fight against COVID-19 with a large vaccination program that helped people return to work, school, and travel. Restrictions were eased as more people were vaccinated.

Summer wildfires swept parts of the country, especially the island of Evia near Athens. The fires forced evacuations, caused damage to homes and forests, and drew international help.

There were protests over vaccine rules and government policies, as some people opposed certain mandates.

Despite these challenges, Greece moved toward normal life by the end of the year. Tourism began to recover, and vaccination levels rose, offering hope for 2022.
