Stroudsburg Poconos
The Stroudsburg Poconos were a minor league baseball team from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. They played in the Interstate League in 1932 and in the North Atlantic League from 1946 to 1950. The team was affiliated with the New York Yankees in 1947 and with the Cleveland Indians in 1949. Home games were at Gordon Gifels Field. The Poconos began in 1907 in the independent Blue Mountain League. In 1932 they went 19–7, but the league folded on June 20, 1932 while Stroudsburg led the standings. After 1932, Stroudsburg did not host another team until the North Atlantic League restarted in 1946. The 1949 Stroudsburg Poconos are recognized as one of the 100 greatest minor league teams of all time, finishing 101–36. After the 1950 season, the North Atlantic League folded and the Stroudsburg Poconos folded as well.
