Adamawa State is home to a large Christian community, making Christians the largest minority in a state that is mostly Muslim. Attacks by Boko Haram against Christians have occurred, but such violence has decreased in recent years thanks to Nigerian military efforts to fight terrorism in the region.

Key Christian groups in Adamawa include:
- Roman Catholic Diocese of Yola, a major Christian body led by Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza.
- Church of the Brethren (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwar a Nigeria) with its headquarters in the province.
- Deeper Life Bible Church and Living Faith Church in Yola.
- Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, with many members in the state and its headquarters in Numan.
- Fellowship Baptist Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention in Mubi, and Gongola Baptist Conference-AG of the Nigerian Baptist Convention in Numan.
- National Evangelical Mission churches in Gombi, Golembatal, Uvu, Nokwam Nbulum, Wurobalka, and Mubi.
