Strait Out of the Box, later known as Strait Out of the Box: Part 1, is George Strait’s first box set. Released September 12, 1995, it collects four albums recorded between 1976 and 1995. The collection is mainly Strait’s singles, but it also includes some album tracks and several studio outtakes. It even features three songs Strait recorded in the 1970s for the indie label D Records, one of which, I Just Can’t Go on Dying Like This, was re-recorded for his 2013 album Love Is Everything.

Two singles were released from the box set: “Check Yes or No” (released September 11, 1995) reached number 1 on the Billboard country chart, and “I Know She Still Loves Me” (released December 11, 1995) peaked at number 5.

The box set was a major success. It was certified 8× platinum by the RIAA on July 29, 2003, indicating shipments of 2 million copies. At the time, it was the best-selling country music box set ever and second only to Bruce Springsteen’s Live 1975–85 box set overall. In the United States, it had sold 1,525,100 copies as of October 2019.
