Dial H
Dial H is a DC Comics superhero series that launched in 2012 as part of The New 52. It offers a modern, humorous nod to the Silver Age title Dial H for Hero.
The story centers on Nelson Jent, a schlubby man who discovers a mysterious phone booth. When he dial s H-E-R-O, he transforms into a new, temporary superhero with a unique power and costume. Each time he dials, a different hero appears for a short adventure before he returns to his normal self.
The series was written by China Miéville, with artwork by Mateus Santolouco and Alberto Ponticelli (and occasional work by David Lapham), and Brian Bolland provided the cover. It was published monthly as part of The New 52 lineup.
Dial H ran from May 2012 to August 2013, totaling 16 issues (issues #1–#15 plus an issue numbered #0). It ended with issue #15, and an epilogue story, “Dial E,” appeared in Justice League #23.3 as part of Villains Month. The tone blends contemporary storytelling with playful, inventive superhero concepts.
