Calliostoma gloriosum
Calliostoma gloriosum, the glorious topsnail, is a small sea snail with gills and an operculum. It belongs to the family Calliostomatidae and lives in the Pacific Ocean off California.
The shell grows up to about 24 mm tall and has six rounded whorls with fine, threadlike ribs. Four or five ribs near the suture are granulated. The last whorl has a rounded keel. The base is flattened and shows about 25 revolving grooves. The thick columella is not reflected, but its base is mildly grooved behind it. The opening is about one-third of the shell’s length; it is rhomboid, pearly, and smooth. The shell color is light salmon with patches of light yellow and chestnut brown near the suture and keel.
