Digby is a small town in southwestern Nova Scotia, Canada, located on the western shore of the Annapolis Basin near the Digby Gut, which links the basin to the Bay of Fundy. It is known as the Scallop Capital of the World because of its busy scallop fishery and seafood heritage.

As of 2021, about 2,000 people live in Digby, which covers a little over 3 square kilometers. The town sits on land once named Oositookun by the Mi’kmaq. It was settled in 1783 by United Empire Loyalists led by Sir Robert Digby and named after Admiral Robert Digby. Digby grew as a shipping hub in the 19th century, and its history is kept alive at the Admiral Digby Museum near the harbor.

Tourism is important in Digby. The historic Digby Pines Resort helped attract visitors starting in the early 1900s, and today many inns and bed-and-breakfasts welcome travelers. The annual Scallop Days Festival in early August celebrates the town’s seafood and local art. Since 2004, Digby hosts the Wharf Rat Rally, Atlantic Canada’s largest motorcycle event, drawing thousands of visitors.

Transportation includes the MV Fundy Rose ferry to Saint John, New Brunswick, and the town’s historic rail and steamship links. The Digby General Hospital provides emergency and other medical care, though emergency services can close temporarily if staff are unavailable. Digby is about 105 kilometers from Yarmouth and 230 kilometers from Halifax.

Residents are called Digbyites. The town is governed by a mayor and town council. The postal code is B0V 1A0, and the area code is 902.
