1876 Missouri Secretary of State election
On November 7, 1876, Missouri voters elected their Secretary of State. Incumbent Democrat Michael Knowles McGrath won re-election, defeating Republican Eugene F. Weigel. McGrath received 201,921 votes (57.97%) to Weigel’s 146,427 votes (42.03%), a margin of 55,494 votes. He continued as Secretary of State and was sworn in for a second term on January 8, 1877.
