Cajueiro
Cajueiro is a municipality in western Alagoas, Brazil. It sits about 90 meters above sea level and covers around 94 square kilometers. As of 2022, about 16,000 people live there, and the residents are called Cajueirenses. The name comes from the cashew tree, which gave the village its name in the 19th century near the Paraíba River. Cajueiro became an official municipality on May 22, 1958. The mayor for 2025–2028 is Lucila Régia Albuquerque Toledo (MDB) and the vice mayor is Antonio Jorge de Melo Junior (MDB). The area operates on Brasília Time (UTC-3). The postal code is 57770-000.
