John Jagler
John Jagler (born November 4, 1969) is an American Republican politician, radio broadcaster, and communications consultant from Watertown, Wisconsin. He has served in the Wisconsin Senate representing the 13th district since April 23, 2021. Before that, he represented the 37th Assembly district in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2013 to 2021, serving four terms.
Jagler was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved with his family to Oak Creek, Wisconsin, at age three. He graduated from Oak Creek High School in 1987, attended the University of Wisconsin–Parkside, and then earned an associate degree from the Trans-American School of Broadcasting in Madison in 1989. He spent more than 20 years in radio, largely at Milwaukee’s WTMJ, where he co-hosted Wisconsin’s Morning News. He also founded Jagler Communications, a media and communications consulting firm that he still operates.
In 2010, Jagler joined state representative Jeff Fitzgerald’s staff as communications director. After Fitzgerald became Speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly following the 2010 election, Jagler remained on staff until he ran for the Assembly in 2012. The 37th district had been redrawn in 2011, creating a Republican-majority seat. Jagler won the August Republican primary and then the general election with about 55% of the vote to Democrat Mary Arnold’s 45%.
He served four Assembly terms before running for the State Senate in 2021, after Scott L. Fitzgerald left the Senate to join the U.S. House. Jagler won the February 2021 Republican primary with about 57% of the vote and defeated Democrat Melissa Winker in the April 2021 special election. Jagler and his wife, Heidi, have lived in Watertown for more than two decades; they have three children.
