Boxing at the 1998 Asian Games – Men's 51 kg
Boxing at the 1998 Asian Games – Men's flyweight (51 kg) took place in Bangkok, Thailand, at the Land Sports Complex from December 7 to 18. The event featured 17 competitors from 17 nations in a straight single-elimination format. Because there were fewer than 32 boxers, some athletes received byes in the early rounds. The semi-final losers both earned bronze medals. Bouts consisted of five three-minute rounds, with scoring based on clean punches to the head or upper body; the boxer with more points won. If a boxer was knocked down and couldn’t rise before the 10-count, the opponent won. All times were in Indochina Time (UTC+07:00). Medalists were: gold — Pramuansak Phosuwan (Thailand); silver — Hermensen Ballo (Indonesia); bronze — Haider Ali (Pakistan) and Choi Jin-woo (South Korea).
