The Betrayal of Christ is a painting by Anthony van Dyck, made around 1618–1620. He painted two other versions of the same scene around the same time, now in Madrid and Minneapolis. The work was bought by Paul Methuen and later left to his cousin and godson, also named Paul Methuen, who displayed it at Corsham Court. It stayed in the Methuen family until 1984, when it was given to the UK government in lieu of inheritance tax and placed in Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. The museum keeps it at Corsham Court, but the painting is currently in storage.
