Corythoichthys insularis is a small marine fish in the pipefish family Syngnathidae. It lives in the western Indian Ocean, from the Amirante and Comoros islands to the Maldives. It inhabits coral and rocky reefs at depths of 20–45 meters and can grow up to about 10 centimeters long. This species is ovoviviparous, with the male carrying fertilized eggs in a brood pouch under his tail; sexual maturity is reached at about 8.2 centimeters.

Conservation status: Least Concern (IUCN).
