Bentonville, Ohio
Bentonville is a small, unincorporated community and census-designated place in northern Sprigg Township, Adams County, Ohio. It has about 253 residents (2020) and a post office with ZIP code 45105. The town sits on Ohio State Routes 41 and 136, which run together through Bentonville and split at the south edge of town. Bentonville was laid out in 1839 and is named after U.S. Senator Thomas Hart Benton of Missouri. A post office has served the community since 1842. The town is home to the Anti-Horse Thief Society monument; horse theft is no longer a problem, but the society still exists and meets. Verna Naylor, a former postmaster who ran the post office from her home for over 40 years, was recognized as the oldest postmaster in the nation when she died in 2010 at age 94.
