2004 in Angola

After the long civil war ended in 2002, Angola continued rebuilding. The government and international partners repaired roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, and housing, especially in areas that were damaged by fighting.

The economy grew mainly because of oil, with diamonds also playing a role. Oil money helped the government, but many people still lived in poverty and faced higher prices and uneven access to basic services.

Steps were taken to demobilize former fighters, help refugees return home, and support people who had been displaced. Humanitarian aid assisted these efforts and the rebuilding process.

There were no major elections in 2004. The year focused on stabilizing the country and building the institutions needed for lasting peace and development.
