Beautiful Life (Ace of Base song)
Beautiful Life is a 1995 song by Swedish band Ace of Base from their second album, The Bridge. It was released on October 20, 1995, by Mega Records. The track was written by Jonas Berggren and produced by Berggren with Denniz Pop and Max Martin. Running 3 minutes and 38 seconds, it blends Eurodance with disco and gospel influences.
In the United States, Beautiful Life reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, while in the United Kingdom it also peaked at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. It topped Canada's RPM Dance/Urban chart and the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, and it performed well across Europe as well.
The music video was directed by Richard Heslop. There were two European versions, and the U.S. version originally featured bubbles that were later removed by the label. The song was inspired by Berggren’s time in the Canary Islands on January 1, 1994, and includes a gospel-tinged chorus sung by a four-woman group arranged by Denniz Pop.
Critics called the song catchy and danceable, with a bright and upbeat feel. Beautiful Life remains one of Ace of Base’s best-known songs and has inspired covers and new versions by other artists.
