Gustavo Acosta (footballer)
Gustavo Jorge Acosta (November 22, 1965 – April 3, 2024) was an Argentine football midfielder from Mar del Plata. He began his career with Ferro in Argentina, playing 170 league games and scoring 10 goals, and helped the club win its two top-flight titles. In 1991 he moved to Europe to play for FC St. Pauli in Germany’s second division (16 games, 3 goals), then for SV Lurup in Germany (1992–1993). In 1993 he joined Lleida in Spain’s second division and helped them win promotion to La Liga (9 games). Later that year he played for Cádiz (11 games, 1 goal). He finished his career with Nueva Chicago in Argentina (1994–1996, 40 games). Acosta died on April 3, 2024, at the age of 58.
