Manías
Manías is a Latin pop ballad by Mexican singer Thalía from her eleventh studio album Habítame Siempre. It was released on October 8, 2012, by Sony Music and runs 3 minutes 54 seconds. The song was written by Raul Ornelas.
It marks Thalía’s return to new music after four years without a studio single. She said on Twitter that the song is dedicated to her mother, who died the previous year.
Critics gave Manías positive reviews, praising Thalía’s artistic growth and her vocal performance. The song also performed well digitally, debuting in more than 20 countries on its first day and reaching top positions in many of them.
Thalía performed the song live for the first time at a Univision TV special called Habitame Siempre. The concert was recorded in the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York and broadcast in the United States on November 18, 2012, and in Mexico on November 24. She also sang Manías on Sabado Gigante on October 27, 2012, and on La Voz in Mexico a few weeks later. During her Spain promotional tour, she performed at the Cadena Dial Awards in Tenerife on March 13, 2013. It was planned to be part of her Viva! Tour starting March 24, 2013 in Chicago.
A making-of video premiered on Vevo on November 9, 2012, with studio footage. The official music video premiered on Vevo on December 18, 2012, filmed at the Hammerstein Ballroom and featuring Thalía’s live performance. The video was also used during the album’s promotional week.
In Mexico, the digital single had sold over 30,000 copies by February 16, 2013, earning Gold certification and later Platinum from AMPROFON. (Sales figures are based on certification.)
