José Antonio Chamot, born on May 17, 1969, is a retired Argentine footballer and current manager. He mainly played as a left-back, though he could also play on the right or, rarely, as a centre-back.

Chamot began his career with Rosario Central in Argentina and then moved to Europe, playing for Pisa, Foggia, and Lazio in Italy. At Lazio, he helped the team win the Coppa Italia in 1997-98. He later joined Atlético Madrid in Spain and then AC Milan in Italy, where he won the UEFA Champions League and the Coppa Italia in the 2002-03 season. He finished his playing career with Leganés and Rosario Central, retiring in 2006 due to injuries.

Internationally, Chamot earned 43 caps for Argentina between 1993 and 2002, participating in three FIFA World Cups (1994, 1998 and 2002) and was a starter in the 1994 and 1998 tournaments. He also played for the Argentina Olympic team in 1996, winning the silver medal as one of the overage players allowed for the squad.

After retiring, Chamot moved into coaching. He served as an assistant at Rosario Central (2009–2010) and River Plate (2011–2012), then managed Rosario Central’s reserve team (2017–2019) before taking the helm at Club Libertad in 2019.
