Augusta Dabney
Augusta Dabney (October 23, 1918 – February 4, 2008) was an American actress best known for her soap opera work, especially as Isabelle Alden on Loving, a role she played in several runs between 1983 and 1995.
She grew up in Berkeley, California, studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Dabney began on Broadway in 1938 with Abe Lincoln in Illinois and later appeared in Sacrilege (1995). She also acted in early television.
Her soap career included roles on Young Dr. Malone, Another World, As the World Turns, Guiding Light, A World Apart, General Hospital, One Life to Live, and The Doctors. Her film debut was That Night! (1957); her last film was The Paper (1994). She was nominated for a BAFTA for That Night.
Dabney was married twice: first to actor Kevin McCarthy (three children; 1941–1964), then to actor William Prince (1964–1996). She died after a long illness in Dobbs Ferry, New York, on February 4, 2008, at age 89.
