Dham Talwandi Khurd
Dham Talwandi Khurd is the seat of an Ashram (a religious community) in Punjab, India. It is about 5 km from Mullanpur City and roughly 24–30 km from Ludhiana. The name Khurd means “small,” used to distinguish it from another place with the same name called Talwandi Kalan (big). The ashram is run by the Swami Ganganand Bhuriwale Trust.
Talwandi Khurd was established in 1905 by followers of the Garib Dassi sect. The SGB Children's Home there was started under the patronage of Swami Shankera Nand Bhuriwale. The home cares for orphaned or abandoned children for the long term and believes every child has the right to live in a family. A group of 7–8 children live with a devoted caregiver. Key supporters include Bibi Jasbir Kaur, Mr. Kuldip Singh, and Ms. Ramanjot Kaur.
SGB International Organization, the parent body, is recognized by state and central governments for both in-country and inter-country adoptions. It also runs St. Kabir Academy, a CBSE grade 12 school that aims to give rural children access to quality education.
