Anempathetic sound
Anempathetic sound in a film is sound that ignores the scene’s mood or what’s happening. It uses music or effects that seem indifferent to the current tone, emotion, or plot point. This can heighten a sense of tragic apathy, such as a radio continuing to play a happy song while a character dies, or in Psycho, the shower keeps running after the murder, as if nothing happened.
