Under the Sun of Rome (Sotto il sole di Roma) is a 1948 Italian drama directed by Renato Castellani. It is the first film in Castellani's neorealist trilogy about poor people, followed by È primavera... (1949) and Two Cents Worth of Hope (1952), which won the Cannes Palme d'Or. The screenplay was written by Sergio Amidei, Renato Castellani, Emilio Cecchi, Ettore Margadonna and Fausto Tozzi. The movie was produced by Sandro Ghenzi, with cinematography by Domenico Scala, editing by Giuliano Betti and music by Nino Rota. It was produced by Universal Cine and released in Italy on 2 October 1948. The running time is 104 minutes, and the language is Italian.
