Amit
Amit is a name used in Hindu and Jewish cultures as a given name, and sometimes as a surname. It is usually male, but in Israel it is increasingly given to girls as well.
In Hindi, Amit (Hindi: अमित) means infinite or boundless. It comes from Sanskrit amita, a form related to the idea of not being measured.
In Hebrew, Amit (Hebrew: עמית) means friend, colleague, peer, or a member of an organization. The word appears in the Bible twelve times, mostly in Leviticus.
Amit remains a very popular name for Jewish boys in Israel, even as it becomes more common for girls there.
