Alvin D. Reed (born August 1, 1944) is a former American football tight end who played in the AFL and NFL. He grew up in Kilgore, Texas, and went to Prairie View A&M University. Reed was not drafted in 1967 but signed with the Houston Oilers. He played nine seasons in professional football, with the Oilers from 1967 to 1972 and with the Washington Redskins from 1973 to 1975. He stood 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighed about 235 pounds.

Reed was a standout tight end in the late 1960s. He earned two straight first-team All-AFL honors (1968, 1969) and was a two-time AFL All-Star (1968, 1969). His career totals include 214 receptions for 2,983 yards and 14 touchdowns. He helped the Oilers reach the 1967 AFL Championship game and had his best seasons in 1968 and 1969, including leading all AFL tight ends in receptions in 1969.

Reed later played for Washington for three seasons before ending his NFL career. He was inducted into Prairie View A&M’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 and into the Southwest Athletic Conference Hall of Fame in 1999.
