Alvin Holmes
Alvin Adolf Holmes (October 26, 1939 – November 21, 2020) was an American politician from Alabama. He served in the Alabama House of Representatives for the 78th district from 1974 to 2018, as a member of the Democratic Party. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Holmes attended Alabama State University and Faulkner University (Thomas Goode Jones School of Law). He worked as a real estate broker and a professor. Holmes was an Alabama delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1968 and 1996, and he campaigned to remove the Confederate flag from Alabama’s capitol. He died in Montgomery, Alabama, at the age of 81.
