The women's combined event at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was alpine skiing’s Olympic debut and the only women's alpine event that year. The competition combined a downhill on Friday, February 7, with two slalom runs on Saturday, February 8.

Forty-seven competitors from 13 nations entered, and the downhill portion was held at Kreuzjoch, while the slalom took place at Gudiberg. The downhill started at 11:00, with the rise from 1,580 meters to 760 meters above sea level, a vertical drop of 820 meters over about 3.3 kilometers. The best downhill time belonged to Laila Schou Nilsen of Norway, who finished in 5:04.4 at an average speed of about 39 km/h. The course conditions were generally good, with temperatures around -5 to -4 °C.

The slalom was run on Gudiberg on February 8, featuring a 200-meter vertical drop, a 600-meter course length, and 23 gates. Temperatures ranged from -8 to -4 °C, and any missed gate added penalties to the finishing time.

After combining the downhill and slalom results, the medals were awarded: Gold went to Christl Cranz of Germany, Silver to Käthe Grasegger of Germany, and Bronze to Laila Schou Nilsen of Norway.
