The Big Stuffed Dog is a 1981 American children’s film about a big Snoopy stuffed toy that goes on an adventure after a boy named Petey loses it at an airport during an airplane trip. As Petey searches for the doll, the toy is passed from person to person and has its own journey.

The story was written by Peanuts creator Charles Schulz. He noted that working with adult actors helped bring his lines to life, even if some of the child actors didn’t always match the writing. The film was directed by Robert Fuest and produced by Whitney Green, with involvement from Lee Mendelson Film Productions and Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates. The cast includes Noah Beery Jr., David James Carroll, Mildred Dunnock, Robert Ginty, Rossie Harris, Abe Vigoda, and Gordon Jump. Music was composed by Ed Bogas and Judy Munsen.

The Big Stuffed Dog aired on NBC on February 8, 1981, as part of NBC’s Project Peacock, a lineup of family-friendly specials. The runtime is 48 minutes.
