Oraesia excavata is a moth in the Erebidae family. It was first described by Arthur Gardiner Butler in 1878. It is found in Japan, Korea, China, Thailand and Taiwan, and has recently been reported in Hawaii. Adults are orange and resemble a dead leaf. They pierce ripe fruit—such as prune, citrus, grapes, peaches, pears, apples, guava, papaya, mango, banana and loquat—to suck the juice. The larvae feed on plants in the Menispermaceae family, probably including Cocculus orbiculatus, Lepisanthes rubiginosa and Stephania japonica. An alternate name for this species is Calpe excavata.
