Wellsite Information Transfer Specification (WITS) is a standard for exchanging drilling rig data. It is widely recognized in the oil and gas industry and supported by many devices and software programs worldwide. WITS is a multi-layered specification. It was still in active use in 2013, but has since been superseded by WITSML, an XML-based version.
