Shaane Fulton
Shaane Fulton (born 3 October 2000) is a New Zealand track cyclist who specializes in sprint events. She was born in Nelson, New Zealand, and moved to Waikato in 2019. Fulton won a silver medal in the team sprint at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In 2021 she had hip surgery called a periacetabular osteotomy to address a genetic mobility issue. She was chosen for the New Zealand team at the 2023 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Glasgow, where New Zealand finished fifth in the team sprint. In the same year she set a national record by winning the 500 m time trial at the Cycling New Zealand national championships. In 2024 she competed in the UCI Nations Cup in Hong Kong as part of New Zealand's team sprint squad. At the Paris Olympics, the New Zealand team briefly set a world record in the qualifying heats before winning the silver medal. Her parents are Karen and Dean Fulton, both former professional cyclists. She was close friends with teammate Olivia Podmore before Podmore's death in 2021.
