Vida is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It sits along Oregon Route 126 near the McKenzie River. The town was originally called Gate Creek, but that caused confusion with Gates Creek in Washington County, so it was renamed after the postmaster’s daughter, Vida. The Vida post office opened on April 12, 1898, with Francis A. Pepiot as postmaster. Vida is home to the Goodpasture Bridge, a historic covered bridge over the McKenzie River. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and is the second-longest covered bridge in Oregon. ZIP code 97488.
