Alcorta is a small town in the Santa Fe province of Argentina. It’s part of Constitución Department in the southern part of the province, located along National Route 178. The town has about 9,000 residents, and sits roughly 80 kilometers south-southwest of Rosario and 255 kilometers south of Santa Fe city.

Alcorta was founded in 1892 by Juan Bernardo Iturraspe. It is best known as the starting point of Argentina’s first large-scale agrarian strike, the Grito de Alcorta, which began on June 25, 1912 and helped lead to the creation of the Argentine Agrarian Federation. Union leader José Ignacio Rucci was born in Alcorta.
