Princess Daisy is the princess of Sarasaland in the Mario universe. She first appeared in the Game Boy launch game Super Mario Land (1989) as Mario rescues her from the alien Tatanga. Daisy is often shown as Luigi’s love interest, echoing Mario’s relationship with Princess Peach. Though she began as a damsel in distress, she became a popular playable character in many spin-off games, including Mario Tennis, Mario Party, and Mario Kart (with her own Daisy Cruiser course). She later joined the main series as a playable character in Super Mario Run (2017) and Super Mario Bros. Wonder (2023). Daisy is also a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with moves similar to Princess Peach, and she appears in other media as well.

In the 1993 live-action film, she is played by Samantha Mathis. Voice work has included Deanna Mustard (2003–2022) and Giselle Fernandez (2023–present). Amiibo figures were released in 2016 and 2019. Super Nintendo World features a Power-Up Band inspired by her dress.

Daisy is known for her energetic, athletic personality and her contrast with Peach. She is well-liked for bringing lively energy to the lineup, and her fans celebrated her inclusion as a Smash character and in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, marking her rise from a spin-off star to a main-series presence.
