Top Gear series 28
Top Gear Series 28 stars Freddie Flintoff, Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness, Sabine Schmitz and The Stig. It aired on BBC Two and ran from 29 December 2019 to 1 March 2020, with seven episodes in total (a feature-length Nepal special plus six regular episodes). The six standard episodes were shown between 26 January and 1 March 2020 and were filmed before the UK lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The Nepal road-trip special opened the series on 29 December 2019. Highlights included a Mexican off-road race, building a homemade off-road vehicle, a second race between a fast car and a fighter jet, and a tribute to rally legend Colin McRae. After this series, the BBC announced Top Gear would move to BBC One for future seasons. The presenters’ return was confirmed in 2019, including a Nepal Christmas special, making this the last series to air on BBC Two. In February 2020 it was revealed that future series would air on BBC One, making this the final series filmed for BBC Two. This series was the last to feature the Star in a Reasonably Fast Car segment and the last to be filmed in an indoor studio, ending a 17-year run of studio-based features since the 2002 relaunch.
