Acclarent, Inc. is a California-based medical device company that develops tools for ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions. Founded in 2004 by Joshua Makower, it grew with venture funding and now has more than 300 employees serving 45+ countries. The company’s early success came with the Relieva Balloon Sinuplasty system, approved by the FDA in 2005, and it has since built a portfolio of over 40 FDA-cleared devices, including Relieva Ultirra, Relieva Luma, Relieva Vortex, and the Cyclops endoscope.

In 2010, Acclarent was acquired by Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson company. The company continued to innovate, gaining FDA clearance in 2017 for the Aera balloon to treat chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction. In December 2023, Integra LifeSciences announced it would acquire Acclarent for $275 million, and the deal closed on April 1, 2024. Today, Acclarent operates as a subsidiary of Integra LifeSciences, with its headquarters in Irvine, California.
