Shire of Omeo was a local government area in Victoria, Australia, located in the East Gippsland region about 390 kilometres east-north-east of Melbourne. It covered 5,641 square kilometres and had a population of 1,680 in 1992. The shire was established on 25 October 1872 and existed until 2 December 1994. In 1994 it was merged into the new Shire of East Gippsland, along with the City of Bairnsdale, the Shires of Bairnsdale and Tambo, and part of the Shire of Rosedale (the Boole Boole Peninsula). The Dinner Plain district joined the Shire of Alpine. Omeo was divided into four ridings on 15 January 1957, each electing three councillors, with the council seat in Omeo.
