Alex Motter (Alexander Everett Motter) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman. He was born on June 20, 1913, in Melville, Saskatchewan, and died on October 18, 1996, in Regina, Saskatchewan, at age 83. Motter played in the NHL for the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings from 1934 to 1943, appearing in 265 games. He won the Stanley Cup with Detroit in 1943. He was 6 feet tall, weighed 185 pounds, and shot left. Motter scored his first NHL goal on March 8, 1936, for the Bruins in a 5–2 win over Detroit at Olympia Stadium; it was his only goal for Boston.
