A. J. Dillon
A. J. Dillon, nicknamed "Quadzilla," is an American football running back for the Philadelphia Eagles. Born on May 2, 1998, in Baltimore, Maryland, he is 6 feet tall and weighs 247 pounds. He played high school football at New London High School in Connecticut and Lawrence Academy in Massachusetts, then starred at Boston College from 2017 to 2019. Dillon left BC as the program’s all-time leading rusher with 4,382 yards and earned several ACC honors, including ACC Rookie of the Year in 2017 and three straight first-team All-ACC selections.
Dillon was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft (62nd overall). He signed a four-year rookie contract and began his NFL career as the third running back on the Packers’ depth chart. His rookie season included 46 carries for 242 yards and 2 touchdowns, with a standout performance in Week 16 (21 carries for 124 yards and 2 TDs) against the Titans.
In 2021, Dillon split time with starter Aaron Jones, finishing the season with 187 carries for 803 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns, along with 34 receptions for 313 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. The 2022 season saw him total 186 carries for 770 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns, plus 28 receptions for 206 receiving yards. In 2023, he produced 613 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns, with 22 receptions for 223 yards. Dillon re-signed with Green Bay on a one-year deal in March 2024 but was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury in August, ending his season.
On March 13, 2025, Dillon signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is African-American and Jewish. His grandfather, Thom Gatewood, was a Notre Dame All-American and 1972 team captain and is in the College Football Hall of Fame. Dillon has hosted a podcast and married Gabrielle Toonen in June 2022. He and Gabrielle welcomed their first child on May 2, 2023—the same birthday as Dillon—and he has strong ties to Door County, Wisconsin, where he was honored with a key in 2021.
