A Letter from Bataan
A Letter from Bataan is a 15-minute American wartime short film released on September 15, 1942. It is a Victory Short made by Paramount Pictures with help from the U.S. Office of War Information and the U.S. Government. The film was directed by William H. Pine, produced by William C. Thomas, and written by Maxwell Shane. Music was by Daniele Amfitheatrof, and cinematography by Fred Jackman Jr. The cast includes Richard Arlen, Susan Hayward, Jimmy Lydon, and Joe Sawyer, with Betty Hutton appearing as herself. The goal is to encourage Americans to participate more actively in supporting World War II. It’s part of Paramount’s series of short films to boost the war effort.
