Municipality of Day Dawn
The Municipality of Day Dawn was a local government area in Western Australia, centered on the mining town of Day Dawn. It was established on 21 December 1894. In 1896 it came under the Health Act and Building Act. The municipality built its own town buildings in 1897 and managed the Day Dawn Recreation Ground, as well as introducing electric lighting for the town. Health and sanitation problems were ongoing.
As the town grew, the boundaries were extended by 1.5 miles in October 1901 and again on 31 August 1904. The council size increased from six to nine members in 1902. The municipality ceased to exist on 11 October 1912, when it merged with the nearby Municipality of Cue into the Cue Road District, which was later renamed the Cue-Day Dawn Road District. All councils supported the merger to improve finances, though there was some push to divide the area back into two road districts.
