2026 Africa Eco Race
The 17th Africa Eco Race is a North Africa rally raid running from 25 January to 7 February 2026. It starts in Tangier, Morocco and finishes in Dakar, Senegal, traveling through Morocco and Mauritania. This is the first edition to start on the African continent instead of Europe. The event features 12 stages on gravel and sand.
Entrants and entries
- 89 crews started in the main race; 172 vehicles lined up in total, including non-racing entries.
- Breakdown: 105 motorcycles (including 1 quad), 20 cars, 20 SSV/T3/T4, 5 trucks, 22 historic-class vehicles (21 cars, 1 truck).
- In addition, 13 bikes and 13 cars competed in the non-racing raid category.
- Vehicle categories were reduced compared with 2025; the historic class remains unchanged.
Weather and start problems
- The Marseille–Tangier crossing faced rough seas.
- The Prologue on the beach was cancelled due to rain.
- Stage 1 was cancelled because of heavy snowfall, causing about 1,000 km of extra travel.
Notes and definitions
- Milwaukee Rookie Rider: under 35 years old at the start and who has never competed in a rally longer than 8 days.
- Original by Motul: competitors in the Motul Xtreme Rider Malle Moto marathon class with limited assistance.
- Some competitors were not able to start.
