2018 Maryland Comptroller election
The 2018 Maryland Comptroller election took place on November 6, 2018 to choose Maryland’s Comptroller. Incumbent Democrat Peter Franchot ran for a third term and had no opposition within the Democratic primary. Republican Anjali Reed Phukan entered the race in 2017 and faced no opponent in the Republican primary.
In the general election, Franchot won reelection with 1,620,264 votes (72.07%), while Phukan received 624,871 votes (27.79%).
Franchot’s victory gave him a third term as Comptroller. It was also the first time since 2010 that the Democratic candidate won a majority of counties in a statewide election.
