2015 Alert Today Florida 300
The 2015 Alert Today Florida 300 was a NASCAR Xfinity Series race held on February 21, 2015, at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. It was the season opener for the Xfinity Series and the 34th running of the event. The 2.5-mile tri-oval race covered 120 laps, totaling 300 miles, in cloudy-to-sunny weather.
Austin Dillon earned the pole for Richard Childress Racing, while Kyle Busch led the most laps in the race, 27. The race featured two major crashes. A late multi-car incident triggered a red flag, and with five laps to go, another big crash involving Erik Jones and Kyle Busch resulted in Busch suffering a severe leg and foot injury, causing him to miss the first 11 Sprint Cup races of 2015.
Ryan Reed, driving the No. 16 for Roush Fenway Racing, won his first Xfinity Series race in his 40th start. He passed Brad Keselowski on the final lap to take the victory, with Chris Buescher finishing second, Ty Dillon third, and Austin Dillon and Keselowski completing the top five.
The race was notable for the sponsor change to Xfinity (replacing Nationwide) and marked the first time Fox broadcast the Xfinity Series since 2006. Daytona International Speedway is a historic track in Daytona Beach that hosts the Daytona 500 and various other racing events.
