Ángel Hernando (born 1959 in Huelva) is a professor at the University of Huelva. He specializes in evolutionary psychology, education, and media education, and works on educommunication.

He serves as associate editor of Comunicar Journal, which in 2015 was highly ranked worldwide in cultural studies. He also participates in editorial boards of other journals such as Apuntes de Psicología. He is part of the Agora research group at the University of Huelva, belongs to the Comunicar Group, and is a member of ALFAMED, a network focused on media literacy for citizenship.

He has participated in European and Spanish research projects, including Interreg, E-learning, and INTI initiatives.

Ángel has taught at all levels of education: primary (1981–1996), secondary, and university. He holds a PhD in psychology, a degree in psychology and psychopedagogy, and a teaching diploma. He began his university career in 2003 as an associate professor. From 1996 to 2008 he taught educational guidance in secondary education, and from 2008 to 2012 he worked in university services until becoming a full professor in 2012.

He teaches in the psychology and social education degree programs and in several master's programs, including communication and audiovisual education, gender studies, identities and citizenship, general health psychology, and secondary education. He is involved in doctoral programs in areas such as communication, interdisciplinary gender studies, social and educational sciences, and health sciences, and has directed numerous doctoral and master’s theses.

His research focuses on evolutionary psychology, education, and educommunication, and he has published many articles, books, and book chapters.
