Volče (pronounced VOHL-che) is a small village in northwestern Slovenia, in the Municipality of Tolmin near the Italian border. It sits on the right bank of the Soča River and covers about 14.6 square kilometers, at an elevation of 198 meters. As of 2020, 548 people lived there. The name Volče comes from an old term meaning “Volk’s people.” The village has a parish church named after Saint Leonard, which belongs to the Koper Diocese, and there is a second church outside the village dedicated to the Prophet Daniel. Volče is part of the Slovenian Littoral traditional region and the Gorizia statistical region.
