Valerie Tourgay
Valerie Tourgay, born Valerie Vladimirovich Vorobiev, was a Chuvash writer, poet, translator, and journalist. He was born on April 17, 1961, in Pochinok-Ineli, Chuvash ASSR, USSR, and died on September 22, 2014, in Alikovo, Chuvash Republic, Russia. He wrote in Chuvash and Russian and was active in literature from 1977 until his death.
In 2003 he was named National Poet of the Chuvash Republic. He joined the Union of Soviet Writers in 1991 and, after 1996, served as Chairman of the Chuvash Republican Public Charitable Foundation M. Sespel. He studied at Chuvash State University and took higher theater courses at Lunacharsky GITIS. His notable works include My soul, my soul (2003) and It's me (2013).
